I knew December would be chaotic with all my travels but trying to show up whenever I get some time. I spent a whole day at the seaside. The idea was to read, swim and relax by the beach. However, all I managed to do was to look at the sea. For someone like me, whose attention span varies based on the situation, it was an interesting experience. It felt like the sea was communicating with me through the glimmering waves, rustling waves and the occasional marine life that was being washed up the shore. Amid all its busyness, it managed to generate an unexplainable stillness in me. I didn’t reach for the phone or the book; I was mesmerized like a baby who saw herself in the mirror for the first time. There wasn’t any spiritual awakening nor any profound thoughts, it was just the feeling of being present at that moment with the sea.
Maybe sometimes, this is what most of us need, a presence to center ourselves.
